Mr. and Mrs. Theodore F. Alcarez of 5 Hilltop St., North Grafton, MA., announce the engagement of their daughter, Aimee T. Alcarez, to John William Cowan.

Miss Alcarez, a graduate of Thomas More College, Merrimack, N.H., received a master's degree in English literature at Tufts University, Medford, MA., where she is pursuing a doctorate in English literature. She is employed by Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA.

Mr. Cowan is the son of Dr. and Mrs. John B. Cowan of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also a graduate of Thomas More College and received master's degrees in philosophy at the University of Memphis in Tennessee and the University of Dallas. He is pursuing a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Dallas.
