Mother of the Bride's Responsibilities/Duties

6 months to go

• Accompany bride to dress fittings.

• Meet with the couple and the groom's parents to compile guest list.

• Help send out invitations and reply to responses.

• Order stationery if needed.

• Contact suppliers (catering, florists etc..) if asked.

2 months to go

• Go shopping with the groom's mother so that your outfits don't clash with each other. This will also give you time to get to know each other properly

1 - 2 weeks to go

• Visit hairdresser.

• Confirm arrangements with suppliers.

• Take delivery of the cake.

On the day

• Early morning, collect flowers.

• Ensure reception venue and caterer are on ready.

• Help bride to dress.

• Leave for church with the attendants.

• Be the last guest to be seated at the ceremony.

• Witness or perform signing of register.

• Participate in the Recessional, escorted by the groom's father.

• Leave for the reception with groom's father, after the couple and before the guests.

Reception duties

• Participate in the receiving line.

• Gather and store wedding gifts.

• Ensure guests enjoy themselves
